Missions

Mission is an important area of focus and growth for our congregation, we believe it is imperative that each of us has a greater understanding of what we are doing as a church to respond to God’s call, right here in Chico and around the world.

As God has blessed our church with a growing membership and budget, our pastors and session have worked hard to increase our mission giving over the last few years. Our congregation has reached an important milestone, in that we now allocate well over 10% of our operational budget to mission. We are grateful for God’s faithfulness allowing us to reach this important goal.

Alternative Gift Faire is coming!
Get ready for the 2008 Alternative Gift Faire.  This year the Alternative Gift Faire will be held on Sunday, December 7 and 14 in the Fellowship Hall.  The AGF allows you to buy gifts for family and friends that support our local and global mission ministries.  Picture the smile on Uncle Fred’s face this Christmas when he opens his card and realizes that his gift is helping orphan children in Swaziland, Africa or Haiti or helping families in Honduras overcome poverty or raising up those who need a helping hand right here in Chico.  Please plan to make Alternative Gift Faire a part of your celebration of the Christmas season this year.

Interested in Being Involved with Missions, but not sure How?

Participate in a mission trip or serve on the trip’s support team

Opportunities abound to follow Jesus – mission trips are planned each year to Albania, Haiti and Mexico, and a trip to Swaziland is also currently under consideration. Each mission trip also requires the help of a support team, gathering supplies and providing much-needed organizational work in preparation for a trip. A short-term mission trip program is also offered to college students during the summer.

Provide prayer support
Everyone involved in mission at Bidwell Presbyterian deeply desires prayer support from our congregation. Please pray often for our pastors, elders, missionaries and mission teams. If you are willing to pray for a particular missionary or ministry, your prayer support will be a great source of encouragement to the individual or team. Look for important updates and requests in our Mission Partner Update and on the website.
