Missions and Outreach

Local Mission

Chico Urban Mission (WATCH THE 2008 VIDEO) downtown

Mission is more than a trip, it is the risky call from God to love the poor, the broken, the downcast every day right where we live. The Chico urban mission is an opportunity to see the ways God is bringing hope and restoration into our city and to see how we can jump into what He is doing. Our purpose for this trip is to learn, partner and build relationships. We will learn and partner with the organizations and individuals who are already embracing the call of local mission in their lives. We desire to build relationships and learn from the financially and spiritually impoverished in our community. Ultimately, we want to get out of our comfort zones because that is where we truly find life in Christ.

Orchard Church Partnership

Our college ministry has a great relationship and partnership with another church in Chico called Orchard church. This church has a heart for Jesus and serving the Chico community in tangible ways. Students have built relationships in their recovery ministry that supports and houses individuals who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. We also have partnered in their youth ministry that reaches out to kids in the Chapmantown area. If you are interested in finding out more about getting involved with this partnership contact student leader Jessica Reaber at jreab6@gmail.com

If you’re interested in volunteering at the only homeless shelter and foodbank in the downtown Chico area, the Jesus Center could really use you! Our college ministry volunteers regularly at the center. If you’re interested in serving at the Jesus Center please contact them at 345-2640.

Jesus Center Breakfasts

An opportunity to BE the church. All the campus ministries of Chico State come together on a Sunday morning to make breakfast, eat together and worship God with the homeless and hungry of Chico at the Jesus Center (local homeless shelter and food bank). This is a time to serve, build relationships and connect with our family in Christ.
Next Sunday breakfast is on October 12th, 7:20am at Jesus Center. Contact our student leader and breakfast coordinator Max Feiler to see how you can help at mfeilers@yahoo.com

Global Mission

Albania Short Term Mission

Our church is fostering a partnership with several ministries in Albania. IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) is a college ministry. The staff of this ministry also relate to Emmanuel Church in Tirana, Albania. The second ministry, Alongside Ministries, is led by Mark and Ruth Stoscher, a couple who planted a church in Erseka, Albania in 1994. In addition they direct a thriving Christian camp. We are also exploring ways we can connect to medical ministries in Albania such as Albanian Health Fund and the ABC Clinic.

Summer Deputation

What is it?
The purpose of Summer Deputation is to give students the opportunity to serve Jesus Christ in many places throughout the world in a short-term summer project. To read about the 2007 team’s experience in Albania click here to check out their online journal.
The Deputation Program is an opportunity for college Christian students who have the desire to care for and disciple others in Jesus Christ, and who desire an opportunity for Christian service and training in a location away from Chico.
