TERM 1 - WEDNESDAY NIGHTS (Sept. 1 - 29)

Discovering BPC (CORE 1 Class) --- Steve Schibsted
For individuals seeking to explore the Christian faith and the life and ministry of Bidwell Presbyterian Church. We want to know you better adn help you make an informed decision about the Christian faith and the congregation. Class topics include Jesus Christ, the Presbyterian denomination, and BPC's programs designed for spiritual growth, community and service.

Gift and Call (CORE 5 Class) --- Jim Coons
Would you like to learn more about your personality, your passions, and your possibilities? Gifts and Call provides an opportunity to intentionally and reflectively discern how God has wired you to serve in His church and world. Plan to attend all sessions if possible. special handouts and materials will be distributed during each class.
Materials fee: $15 per person.

Getting to Know God (CORE 4) --- Laura Cootsona
Do you want to know God better? Are you yearning for more than random prayer, a sporadic spiritual life, and a one-inch thick relationship with Christ? This class is for you! We will look at key spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Sabbath, reading Scripture, and stewardship. Come join us on this journey to go more deeply into the heart of God.

Help me understand: how to better communicate with friends, family and spouses and co-workers --- Lee McHatton
**NOTE: Steve Koch was unable to teach this course, so Lee McHatton will be substituting. Lee McHatton has many years of experience in providing communication training for individuals, couples, and business organizations.  Lee has his M.S. in Counseling Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist. Lee was trained by Jeff Bisaga, one of our wonderful WOW teachers.

St. Thomas Aquinas --- Ric Machuga
Are there good philosophical reasons to believe in God? How can humans be truly free if God is all-powerful? How are body and soul united? Since there are so many different opinions about what is good and bad, how can morality be objective? How can a good God allow so much evil? This class will explore Thomas Aquinas’ (1225-1274) enormously influential answers to such questions.

This sequal to Luke’s gospel describes the nuclear explosion of faith, hope, and love that took place in Jerusalem and spread across the Mediterranean world with astonishing speed. Heart of Our Faith (CORE 2 Class) --- Mark Dickkman and Paul Neumann
God's great homecoming party keeps going on and on at Bidwell Presbyterian Church!  The "Heart of Ouir Faith" Course lives at the center of all of this.  Video presentations by Henri Nouwen, Steven Spielberg, Franco Zeffirelli, the stories of John Claypool, times for personal journaling and lively discussions make this an interactive and engaging course.

Missional Life (CORE 6 Class) --- Jim Coons
So you've Grown Deep in God's grace, Grown Up in community, and now it's time to Grow Out in mission and service to the world.  But how do you do it?  Come learn how to live out God's mission to the world in the relationships that you already have.  We will learn from Jesus himself how he lived out God's mission in his life.

C. S. Lewis: What He Has Meant to Me --- Greg Cootsona
Clive Staples Lewis remains a powerful voice even almost 50 years after his death. Christianity Today polled its readers a few years back: “What theologian or biblical scholar has most shaped your Christian life?” The number one answer was Lewis. This has been true for me personally and in my ministry as a pastor, and I will highlight the insights I have found most transforming in both his apologetics and his fiction.

NOVEMBER 12-13 - WEEKEND CLASS

Discovering the Bible (CORE 3 Class) Weekend Class --- Allen McCallum
Intended as a basic introduction to the Bible for those with little or no background and for those who have loved the Bible for years, but could use a stimulating refresher. Join us to gain an overview of the Bible’s big story and its relevance for our lives today. We will also explore the origins of the Bible and Presbyterian principles of Biblical interpretation.
Handouts provided (originally this class listed a required workbook, but it was determined that handouts will be the curriculum instead)
