WHAT IS W.O.W.?
W.O.W. Stands for “What’s on Wednesdays.” It is an opportunity to grow deeper in your faith together with others at Bidwell Presbyterian Church, to stretch and learn something new about God, your faith, and Christianity. We have a dedicated and well educated team of teachers and volunteers who love to share their knowledge and wisdom with you! We offer 5 terms of classes a year, beginning every fall semester. Our goal is to offer a variety of classes for all levels of interest. Take a look at the different learning opportunities we offer including classes on biblical scripture, theology, practical Christian living, spiritual disciplines, and basic Christianity. NEW!!! What's on Wednesdays... AND Thursdays this FALL?
With joy and excitement, beginning this September, we will be introducing an additional program on Thursday mornings called "What's on Thursdays" (or W.O.T.).
One of our Wednesday night classes "The Acts of the Apostles" will be taught a second time on Thursday mornings from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. We hope that this time will encourage the attendance of folks who are unavailable to attend Wednesday night classes, or would prefer a daytime class. There will be free childcare offered during the Thursday morning class, as well as coffee and refreshments before and after.
You will use the Class Catalogue to register for both W.O.W. and W.O.T. programs.
DINNERS
W.O.W. begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m. in our downstairs fellowship hall. Cost is $5 per adult; $3 for Jr. High, High School, and college students; $2 for children under 10 years of age; or $15 for a family. We have a skilled and talented staff who loves to cook for our church family. Our dinners feature a full and delicious salad bar, a main course, side dishes, dessert, and kid-friendly options.
CLASS TIMES
W.O.W. classes typically begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 7:45 p.m. Some may start slightly earlier, depending on the course. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your class so you have time to locate your classroom and drop off any children at childcare.
FOR KIDS
During W.O.W classes, free childcare is offered for infants through 6th grade. Our Nursery workers all have CPR training. We complete a nation-wide background check on all of our volunteers and paid childcare staff. Do you have kids in Jr. High or High School? See what youth programs are offered on Wednesdays for them HERE .
REGISTRATION AND CLASS MATERIALS
We use a combination of books, workbooks, handouts, and video as part of the learning experience at W.O.W. Material fees apply for some classes.
NEW!!! BOOK POLICY
Our church wants to steward resources in the best possible way. In light of a leaner budget, and new tax requirements enforced by the State of California, we unfortunately will not be able to purchase books on your behalf for the majority of W.O.W. and W.O.T. classes.
We understand this may be an inconvenience, so we will be working hard to ensure you have information on the cheapest and most convenient online and local stores where you can purchase your books. A benefit to this change is that it allows you to bargain book shop on your own schedule instead of paying full price through Bidwell. We realize that for some of you, you may not have a computer or access to a book store. If for any reason you have a hardship that doesn't allow you to find your own materials, please let us know so we may assist you.
The book requirements for each class will be listed in the class catalogues and on our website.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES
During registration periods, class catalogues are available in our church office during the week and on our patio at the information table on Sundays.
Class catalogues for Terms 1 and 2 will be available in August, 2010. Class catalogues for Winter and Spring Terms 3, 4, and 5, will be available in December.
