Young Adult Ministry

YOUNG ADULTS (20s/30s) MINISTRIES
Our goal is to grow the young adult ministry (20s/30s, single or married) into a community where they can learn about God and themselves.  We recognize that this age group is diverse and we seek to help young adults make meaning in their lives through important connections.  We want to help young adults find ways to share the fellowship of this community, learn, be challenged and supported, and grow in faith.

REAL LIFE GROUPS

First, what is a Real Life Group?

  • A community of 8-12 people in a group
  • A safe community where you can be "real" with one another
  • A community where you grow up together in relationship, grow deep in scripture study, and grow out as you serve in outreach beyond yourselves

Why Real Life Groups?

  • Learn and live out scripture
  • Intentional sharing, prayer, and care
  • Fun and family
  • Externally focused

What do Real Life Groups do?

  • Build relationships with one another
  • Study the Word together
  • Serve each other in time of need
  • Serve others in the community
  • Meet often
  • Share with one another
  • Support one another
  • Plan fun events together

What is a Facilitator of a Real Life Group?

  • A Real Life Group Facilitator is one who guides the discussion around the Sermon study guide, provided by the pastor each week. The only preparation involved would be to listen to Sunday's sermon and read through the questions provided before your group gathers.
  • The Facilitator is the point person between the church office and the group.
  • A Real Life Group Facilitator does not need to be a "Bible Expert".
  • Our staff provides training (about one hour out of your schedule)

More Helpful Information

  • Can I become a facilitator and invite my own friends? Yes you can, or we always have plenty of people signing up that we can add to your group as well.
  • Does our group have to meet weekly? No, although that is the preferred schedule, we understand that life happens, and so encourage groups to set up a schedule that works best for them.
  • What about childcare? We encourage groups to arrange for their own childcare. If you decide you want to become a facilitator, and your group has childcare needs, and you are open to meeting on Sunday evening, we may have a space available for you at the church. This is a very limited option, however, and may not always be available. Please contact Jaclyn in the church office for more information.
  • What do we do when we reach the end of the ten week term? First, and more important, stay in touch with your group during the break. Decide as a group if you wish to continue for the next term? Some of your group members may decide to take the off-ramp. That is ok. Invite them to return at any time. Enjoy your break, but stay in communication with your group so they know the date that you will start up again.
