Nomination Form
This form is a tool to receive nominations from our congregation for church leaders.  This is an annual process that assists the BPC Nominating Committee. All members are encouraged to nominate someone (you can also nominate yourself).

Ruling Elder

Being a Presbyterian elder is a high calling, a unique opportunity to offer servant leadership to the congregation, and an experience of spiritual growth. According to the PC(USA) Book of Order the role of a ruling elder and the qualifications of those called to serve in this capacity are defined as follows:

*  Ruling Elders (elected), together with teaching elders (pastors), exercise leadership, government, spiritual discernment, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a congregation as well as the whole church, including ecumenical relationships.
*  Elected by the congregation, they shall serve faithfully as members of the session.
*  Ruling elders should be persons of strong faith, dedicated discipleship, and love of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
*  Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel in the church and in the world.

BPC Elders fulfill these roles:
*  They serve a three-year term with the eligibility of serving two consecutive three-year terms.
*  Most Elders lead particular church ministries, for example, Elder for Adult Discipleship, Elder for Youth Ministry, Elder for Connecting and Equipping, etc.
*  They work together as a Board (3rd Tuesday of every month) along side the Head of Staff, to set church policies and make decisions regarding the mission and vision of our church.
*  They are responsible for managing the finances and personnel of the church.
*  They serve Communion once a month at worship services.

According to the PC(USA) Book of Order, the ministry of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, sincere compassion, and sound judgment should be chosen for this ministry.

BPC Deacons fulfill these roles:
*  They are the care-giving officers of the church, elected to a three-year term with the eligibility of serving two consecutive three-year terms.
*  They care for the sick, the elderly, the needy and the marginalized.
*  They visit those who are homebound, in care facilities, and in hospitals.
*  They send cards, organize meals, and take communion to people who are recovering from illnesses or in need.
*  They oversee the deacon fund, which provides one-time financial assistance to those who are in need of economic help.
*  They meet as a board once a month (first Tuesday of the month).
*  They serve communion at worship services and greet visitors during fellowship times.
