Congratulations on your desire to have your wedding at BPC! We hope that God will bless your wedding day and marriage!
Marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the well-being of the entire human family. Marriage is a covenant through which a man and a woman are called to live out their lives together with God.
We consider it an honor and privilege to share in this most significant chapter of your lives and our hope is to provide you with strong support as you commit yourself to a lifetime together in Christian marriage.
Attached is a Wedding Request Form that starts the process here at BPC. You can email it to kwatje@bidwellpres.org, drop it by the church office, or fax it to (530) 343-7990. Once a Request Form is received, the couple is connected to one of the pastors (if one is not specifically requested) for an initial meeting. The purpose of this meeting is for our pastor to get to know you, as well as your spiritual journey. The pastor is the one who approves the request.
Below is additional information about our process and requirements.
- Weddings are not scheduled more than 12 months in advance of the wedding date.
- It can take sometimes up to 2 weeks for a pastor to connect with you regarding your request to be married at BPC.
- Our policy currently does not allow outside pastors perform ceremonies. They can however, assist our pastor with the ceremony.
- Upon approval, we provide a Wedding Coordinator to couples and will serve as the primary church staff liaison and will work with you during the months prior to your wedding, as well as orchestrating activities on the day of your wedding, helping to ensure your day goes smoothly.
- Members of our church’s music, audio and media staff are available for your service and will work with you to ensure high standards of musical and AVL quality are upheld.
- Our sanctuary seats approximately 460 people
- We do have newly remodeled fellowship hall for receptions.
Once a wedding has been approved:
- We require psychological counseling with one of our church members who is a licensed psychologist because it helps you as a couple face difficult issues in their relationship and thus becomes a way of empowering them for a healthy marriage. The cost of counseling is $240.00.
- Also required is participation in a Discovering Bidwell Pres class (if you are not already members of BPC). This class is held five to six times through out the year with varying formats (Wednesday evening format - 5 consecutive weeks; Weekend format Friday night and Saturday; 2 consecutive Thursday evenings in June). There is no fee for this class and you are not required to become of a member, however, this is a great way to become more familiar with our church, what we believe, and a way to meet our staff and connect with other prospective members.
- During the months leading up to your ceremony, several meetings will occur in order for you and the officiating pastor to review the conditions of Christian marriage, to have frank discussions of the joys and responsibilities of a Christian marriage, and to finalize details regarding your wedding ceremony.
